An Appeal to the Red and Blue People
I don’t care what “team” you’re on. Think like an American for a moment. About where we are, right now.
Consider the implications of a President who has been determined to be above the law while executing “official duties” AND who can issue blanket pardons to those in his administration for any and all crimes they may or may not have committed during their terms in office.
Both sides are fond of invoking names like Stalin and Hitler. This is how you get there.
Are death camps coming? Possibly. There’s an open promise to round up “millions” (no way that happens humanely) and plenty of buzz about arresting critics and political opponents or dismantling federal law enforcement.
More likely though, the same moneyed interests who already have so much of our government in their pocket are poised to seize complete and open control.
With Trump’s billionaire cabinet and the recent reintroduction of sketchy opportunists like Loeffler and Purdue (who THE PEOPLE voted out of office because they profited greatly on pharma stock trades made BEFORE the public had been warned about COVID) we’re looking at an open coup of the rich.
An oligarchy to end governance by We, The People, once and for all.
It was always headed this way. Too Big to Fail. Too rich to be held accountable.
A war on Immigrants we blame for a fentanyl crisis and not the Sackler family who caused the opioid epidemic. A trade war we blame on China and not the companies who so eagerly profited off the cheap labor there for decades. Insurance companies who place profit above lives. Fossil fuel companies who brazenly produce propaganda to hide their complicity in climate change. Greedy banks who nearly toppled the world economy and who got bailed out for their crimes.
At least we’ve freely voted ourselves down this path, right? Red? Blue? Worked out well, huh?
Seriously. Consider other options at this point. The Forward Party is out there. Libertarian. Green. Hell, make your own. Just stop voting for these duopolistic sociopaths.
Also, volunteer for groups like Move to Amend. A non-profit, grassroots organization dedicated to ending Citizens United.
Or keep letting “culture wars” or the barest mention of “woke” get you foaming at the mouth while the wealthy dismantle Democracy. Keep voting to eviscerate and destroy the “other” one. Ballots will be much cleaner with one choice, right?
