To the Performative Cast of the U.S. Congress
Why all this theater about a budget?
The president seems intent on pursuing impoundment. This power of the purse will ultimately nullify any budget you would conceive.
It should be obvious by now — your function is simply to give the appearance everything is proceeding as normal while your legislative duty is stripped away.
Not convinced? Trying clawing that money back. See what concessions you must give, how many times you must kiss the ring.
Previously independent agencies formed by legislative power soon stand to be under the executive branch’s direct sway as well. With the remaining departments crippled in a performative search for fraud what exactly remains for you to legislate?
Yes, your billionaire “auditor” has managed to uncover numerous clerical errors touted as heinous crimes. Saving trillions of dollars. Or maybe millions. His ability to parse zeroes and legacy mainframe code seems … unreliable.
Odd for a professional auditor and supposed technical genius.
I know you have enough experience in this bureaucratic mess to know what true fraud is (and have perhaps contributed much of your own). And without term limits, I know many of you will recall some of these “massive” errors have been brought up before.
In fact, they were thoroughly investigated by the same Inspector Generals fired by Trump at the very first moment he began this crusade.
But don’t believe me. Ask Musk’s pal, AI. Google it. I’ll wait.
The issue of Social Security numbers belonging to people too old to be alive is not new and does not imply widespread fraud. A 2023 audit by the SSA Office of the Inspector General found that 18.9 million Social Security number holders born in 1920 or earlier were not marked as deceased, due to technological changes.
Here’s reporting on the details if you, like myself, don’t fully trust AI.
So, the question remains, what in the hell is Musk doing?
A blind fool can see he’s simply injecting doubt into the system. In this case, pushing for a purge in order to dip into the Social Security apparatus so many Americans rely on and have placed their hard-earned money into.
But he’s rich. He doesn’t need the money. Right?
No, but you will need it to cover the trillions of dollars in tax cuts for the wealthy your budget demands.
Once dismantled and “defrauded” the shell of these systems can then be parted out to private corporations. Carving up the Republic for the benefit of the few.
This isn’t all about money.
DOGE is also plundering this nation’s more abstract and arguably more precious wealth - Data. By demanding access to systems with rigid controls like the Integrated Data Retrieval System inside the IRS. A system designed, in part, to prevent political meddling.
What waste could Musk find in tax returns aside from the fact he himself pays none.
The depth of the data he wants from all governmental agencies could beasily e put to nefarious use. Have you forgotten Cambridge Analytica? Or the NRA’s abuse of the same?
Or is the plan to leverage that IRS data against Musk’s and Trump’s perceived enemies? Even you should you not meet the tests of loyalty.
We’re told to believe Presidents do this kind of vengeful audit all the time. Another fiction conveniently backed by timely “evidence” from Pete Hegseth and his claim his recent IRS audit was politically motivated.
Given the safeguards to protect these systems, could it be that maybe, just maybe, Pete didn’t pay his taxes? An “everyman” with a net worth in the millions of dollars. The amount owed over $30,000 — more than many Americans make in a year.
Did you ever consider maybe that’s where the fraud and waste is? Still in your new appointees’ bank accounts when it should be in the public coffers?
As we approach the endgame of this disaster, none of that will matter. Future taxes will be captured and dispensed under a single man’s purview.
But who will that Supreme Leader be Trump or Musk?
Does it matter?
We’ll no longer need elections. “Fraudulent” or “rigged” as they are, an idea you have also pushed specifically to instill doubt in the entire institution of democracy. Instead, the Supreme Ruler can hand pick from your districts which of you will have the great honor of sitting at his table.
Or maybe under it.
Nothing but dogs begging for scraps.
Traitorous ones at that.
