Trump’s Fake Crusade Against Fentanyl
Trump hates illegal drugs. He’s levied tariffs on China, where precursor chemicals are manufactured. And on Canada and Mexico, whose borders allow entry of this terrible scourge.
A scourge which in recent years had already started to wane.
He’s so anti-drug, he’s called for the death penalty for dealers. And the most recent addition to the FBI’s Most Wanted isn’t a terrorist. It’s a former Canadian Olympian. A guy who sold powder instead of shredding it. The administration’s DEI entry on a page stuffed with brown faces and largely Hispanic surnames.
The Canadian dealer in question, Ryan Wedding, is alleged to have murdered his rivals and created a far-reaching distribution network from Colombia to Canada.
Yet, earlier this year, Trump pardoned Ross Ulbrecht, facilitator of the online Silk Road network which reportedly sold over 200 million dollars worth of illicit drugs.
Ulbrecht himself was accused in a murder for hire plot too. Communication with his drug-dealing co-conspirator indicated he was willing to pay $150,000 for the life of a user who threatened to dox him.
The similarities between these cases cannot be denied. So the question remains, does Trump truly hate illegal drugs? What are these tariffs about?
